Drone property shoots in Mumbai: rules, costs and planning

Aerial coverage sells scale — the podium, the skyline, the distance to the water. In Mumbai it also comes with real constraints, and knowing them before the shoot day saves the budget.

Airspace and society permissions are separate

Clearing airspace does not clear the building. Most Mumbai societies require written committee approval for drone work, and several premium towers refuse it outright. Both approvals need to be in hand before the crew mobilises.

Where drone usually is not an option

Areas near airport approach paths, defence installations and certain South Mumbai pockets are effectively closed. We check the specific address rather than the suburb, because restrictions change street by street.

Alternatives that still work

A high-floor terrace sequence, a slider-driven balcony reveal and a wide skyline plate shot from a permitted nearby vantage cover most of what a drone would have delivered for a single apartment listing.

When drone is worth it

Township launches, plotted developments, Navi Mumbai and Thane projects with real site scale, and waterfront towers where the approach itself is the selling point. For a 2BHK on a mid floor, the money is better spent on interiors lighting.

Confirm both airspace and society clearance first; for single apartments, terrace-level coverage is often the better spend.
